In 2011, Woods Engineering were a company of 60, who were quickly outgrowing their existing IT support partner. Woods required a customer focused IT company, who understood their business and could support them through their plans for growth.
Williams, along with his Commercial Manager, sought out the services of Origin because of the cultural alignment between the two businesses; both being fully kiwi owned and operated and in the same stage of evolution and growth.

Woods needed to restore company faith in IT and be in a position where they could scale their business with minimal disruption to staff, regardless of head count.
Williams explains; “To do this Origin brought thinking to the table that we hadn’t considered as IT is not our area of expertise.”
Recommending that Woods secure onsite support for half a day a week meant that the staff confidence in IT quickly grew, as IT problems disappeared overnight.
“Staff habits changed quickly. Previously they would get distressed with the process when things went wrong. Once Origin was looking after us, they know that it will get sorted in no time – productivity improved dramatically." Williams continues; "Origin earned the confidence of our staff through the onsite guy, backed up by the remote helpdesk.”

One of the unexpected outcomes of finding an IT partner that replaced IT pain with IT partnership, was that Woods is now freed up to collaborate with their New Zealand competitors to take on, and beat, multi-nationals in competitive bid situations for new business.
